Climate change and abiotic stresses

Sugar Rg

Studies on the adaptations of grassland species to abiotic stresses focus on the mechanisms that govern C fluxes in the plant. The study of the synthesis and transport of sucrose as well as the evaluation of the roles and metabolism of fructans in grassland species subjected to defoliation aim to:

  • to deepen the knowledge on these processes and their regulation (sucrose synthesis and transporters enzymes, fructan metabolism enzymes)
  • to identify indicators (metabolites, enzymatic activities, marker genes) of the resistance of grassland species to abiotic stresses, in particular drought
